Taxiphyllum Spiky - Spiky Moos - InVitro

This wonderfully rich light green Spiky-moss (Taxiphyllum sp. Skiky) is particularly suitable for planting on objects or binding on stones and roots. After a short period of time, the Spiky-Moss will grow firmly on the planted objects and will form beautiful dense cushions or bushes. Originally this moss comes from Asia and is found there along fast-flowing streams.

The Spiky-Moss doesn’t require much care. The Spiky moss should merely be cut back a little from time to time. The cut shoots can then be used for binding or planting without any problems. Like with many other mosses, the shoots of the Spiky moss don’t die - but continue to grow. The different shades of green provide an interesting contrast in any aquacade. The tips of this plant are slightly lighter in comparison to the lower areas. After the Spiky moss is placed in the aquarium, it needs a certain period for acclimation. After that, the Spiky moss continues to grow outward in a circular pattern. The addition of micro and macro nutrients, as well as CO2 accelerates growth and ensures a healthy spread of the moss.

Good to know: Especially shrimps love this moss, because they can hide in it very well and also because it provides a perfect food source. In the first few days, this moss is especially popular with young shrimp seeking protection from predators. Fish also like to use this moss as a spawning substrate and to place their eggs in a protected location.

The moss we offer comes from our shrimp tanks and is free of planaria or other pests.
