General information: The Indian Trumpet snail originally comes from Southeast Asia. But this... more

General information: The Indian Trumpet snail originally comes from Southeast Asia. But this popular snail species can also be found in the tropics. The sculpted shell gives the Indian trumpet snail its name. The Indian Trumpet snail can be bought in every pet shop and is present in almost every aquarium. The pointed, tower-like shell is a real eye-catcher in any aquascape! In addition to its beautiful phenotype, the Indian trumpet snail digs up every aquarium bottom and thus easily prevents rotting in the substrate. The animals we offer are exclusively original German offspring (DNZ).

Keeping: We recommend keeping trumpet snails in aquariums with a tank volume of 12 liters or more. The tank should never be too small for these animals. For the correct acclimation of the Indian trumpet snails after a transport, we suggest reading our blog article on this topic. During the day, the Indian trumpet snail is more likely to be found on the substrate, but as soon as it gets dark, the snails start to wander through the aquarium.

Reproduction: Indian trumpet snails are capable of reproduction. Therefore, breeding them is very easy. The amount of reproduction depends on the food: The more food the Indian trumpet snails get, the more likely they are to reproduce. This circumstance is particularly convenient for breeders!

Socialization: Indian trumpet snails can be kept together with shrimps or fish in an aquarium. However, we do not recommend keeping them together with predatory snails.

Food: Indian trumpet snails are omnivores! They are known as "remain recyclers". They eat algae, plant, fish and shrimp remains, crab food, vegetables, brown autumn leaves and even dead animals in the aquarium. It should also be noted that, biofilms and algae coverings are eaten with pleasure by the Indian trumpet snail!

Substrate: For the species-appropriate keeping of the Indian trumpet snail we advise using fine gravel or sand as substrate, which the snails constantly dig up. By loosening the fine substrate, less putrefactive gases are produced.

Markus' Comment: The Indian trumpet snails are a valuable addition to every aquarium. They are great snails for all purposes!
