Fissidens Fontanus - Phönix Moos - auf Mineral Sheet

Fissidens Fontanus, also known under its German name Quell-Gabelzahn Moos or Phönix Moos is widely known in the aquarium world. Its impressive name has a good reason: The feathery appearance of the Phoenix Moss is a reminder of the famous bird and its tail. Fissidens Fontanus is a dark green, delicate moss that is ideal for the realization of numerous aquascape ideas. It originates from North America and is at home in lakes and rivers. It has also been found in parts of Europe and Germany.

The fine, dark green moss quickly become a real feast for the eyes from any aquascape. The phoenix moss can grow up to 10 cm in size. The two-rowed leafed moss with its filigree phenotype reminds of a delicate feather. Fantastic underwater worlds are possible with this filigree Fissidens Fontanus moss. Due to its slow and cushion-like growth, Fissidens rarely needs to be trimmed. Should a trimming of this beautiful moss become necessary, use sharp scissors. The cut shoots can be tied with twine, a stainless-steel grid or a net to the hardscape of your choice. It will then slowly form a new beautiful cushion.

Fissidens doesn’t have high demands when it comes to water values. When fertilizing this plant, we recommend using iron, phosphate and nitrate, as well as CO2. In addition to that good lighting help with a strong growth. But even without fertilization and a lot of light Fissidens will slowly grow to a beautiful cushion in your aquarium
